Veil Care Guide | The Beautiful Bride Shop

Now that your wedding veil has arrived, it's essential to know how to care for it both before and after your special day. The delicate nature of a wedding veil contributes to its beauty, requiring extra attention during steaming, storage, transportation, and cleaning.

To care for your veils, proper cleaning and storage techniques are essential. Here's a comprehensive guide:

Cleaning and Steaming:
Spot clean any stains on the veil immediately with a mild detergent and lukewarm water, taking care not to rub or scrub the delicate fabric. Gently steam the veil to remove wrinkles or creases, using caution with delicate fabrics to avoid excessive heat. For stubborn stains, use cold water and mild detergent, handling the veil with care to prevent damage to lace or trim.

Storage for Short Veils (120cm and under):

  • Hang the veil loosely on a padded hanger to allow wrinkles to naturally fall out, avoiding folding or creasing.
  • Store the veil in a breathable garment bag or box to protect it from dust and light.
  • Handle the veil with clean hands to prevent transferring oils or dirt onto the delicate fabric.

Storage for Medium Veils (120-200cm):

  • Store the veil flat or loosely rolled to prevent crushing or creasing.
  • Avoid hanging the veil for extended periods to prevent stretching or distortion.
  • Use a breathable garment bag or box to shield the veil from dust and light.

Storage for Long Veils (200cm and up):

  • Lay the veil flat on a clean, smooth surface to prevent tangling or snagging.
  • Avoid folding or hanging the veil for extended periods.
  • Store the veil in a breathable garment bag or box to protect delicate lace or trim from damage.

By wrapping it in acid-free tissue paper, and keeping it away from direct sunlight in a cool, dry place you can sustain the longevity of your veil.

Removing Creases:
Preventing creases is the best approach, achieved by folding the veil lightly and using acid-free tissue paper when necessary. If creases develop, use steam to remove them. A garment steamer is effective, but you can also hang the veil in a steamy bathroom. Be cautious to prevent excessive dampness and heat. If a garment steamer isn't available, consider seeking help from a local dry cleaner. Avoid ironing your veil, as the delicate tulle and materials may be damaged or yellowed.

Embellishments:
Hand-appliqued embellishments on our wedding veils are delicate and unique. Proper care ensures they retain their beauty over time. For veils with 3D appliqued florals, avoid placing heavy objects or folding them tightly to prevent crushing or distortion. For spot cleaning around embellishments, handle the veil gently to avoid damaging or lifting them.

Washing Instructions:
Handle your wedding veil with clean hands, avoiding contact with makeup or fake tan. If marked, don't machine wash or soak it. Spot clean with a damp cloth or baby wipes using a light dabbing motion. To remove pet hair or lint, use sticky tape or a lint roller.
